In old Egypt, probably around 4000 B.C., the Egyptians applied kohl on
their lashes, eyebrows and to line their eyes. This is the earliest type
of mascara and eye liner. Charcoal or soot had been probably combined
with malachite and lead sulfite to produce kohl.
Mascara as you may know it started in 1913. In those days, it was a combination of coal dust and petroleum jelly.
Today,
a lot of women may not leave home without having mascara. You can apply
without foundation, blusher and even lipstick but if your eyelashes are
dull, you will need mascara. A lot of women, pale eyelashes or not feel
nude without having mascara.
Latest volumizing mascara
uses primarily carbon for the black color in mascara while iron oxide
is utilized for the brown colors. In America, the application of coal
and tar pigments in eye cosmetics is unacceptable. A lot of volumizing mascara products
these days are created from oil, water and waxes, such as carnauba wax,
beeswax or paraffin. Along with the basics, different components are
included in the mascara formulation for various results. For instance,
fibers are included in eyelash building mascaras. Then you can find the
waterproof mascaras, the ones that turn the eyelashes fuller, or put
strength to your eyelashes. Aside from the formulation, the key of
mascara’s effectiveness is based on the brush. It is the formula and the
brush of the mascara that provides the ideal result.
